Michael is a chartered quantity surveyor who has specialised in providing contractual advice for 22 years in the Asia Pacific region. He established Knowles’ first overseas offices in Hong Kong in 1985 and from there developed businesses throughout Asia and Australia. Michael became Joint CEO of the Knowles Group after they were listed in the UK, and after 20 years with the company, left Knowles in 2004. He established Michael Charlton & Company Limited in 2005 and joined with Rodney Martin to form the Charlton Martin Group in 2007. He continues to act as lay advocate, arbitrator, expert witness and provides contractual advice to the industry. Michael has organized and presented some 500 seminars in the region. Michael is Managing Director of Charlton Martin Consultants Limited in Hong Kong and is Chairman of the Charlton Martin Group.

Rodney was previously both Managing Director of Knowles companies in Malaysia and Singapore and Senior Vice President of Hill International for the Asia Pacific Region and has over 10 years experience working at senior level in the region. He is resident in Kuala Lumpur and works both there and throughout the region. Rodney holds dual qualifications in quantity surveying and law and as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor is a specialist in construction contract consultancy providing professional and technical advice to clients relating to contract documentation, contractual claims, dispute avoidance and resolution. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Fellow of the Quantity Surveyors Institute, a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and was previously an External Examiner in Quantity Surveying at Kingston University in the United Kingdom. He is an accredited mediator with the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration and is an experienced speaker within the region. Rodney is Managing Director of Charlton Martin Consultants Sdn Bhd in Malaysia and Director of Charlton Martin Consultants Limited in Hong Kong.

Jeffrey is a qualified quantity surveyor with more than 10 years experience in the construction industry initially gained with private developers in Australia and later with James R Knowles (Hong Kong) Limited. He advises on contractual issues and commercial and contract strategy, and prepares claims for extensions of time and costs. Jeffrey conducts seminars on practical aspects of contract administration. He also involved in preparation for arbitration and mediation and preparation of expert witness reports, and has more recently assisted provisional liquidators of construction firms.

John Wong was an Associate Director with Knowles Malaysia prior to taking up his present position with Charlton Martin Consultants. John holds dual qualifications in quantity surveying and in law. John is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Member of The Institution of Surveyors Malaysia and a Registered Quantity Surveyor with the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia. John has over 10 years of experience in quantity surveying and construction contracts consultancy including providing contractual advice; contract management and administration; preparing as well as assessing loss and expense claims and extension of time claims; and representing clients in arbitration proceedings. John has considerable experience as a speaker in Malaysia.

Cheryl has more than 16 years experience in the construction industry initially gained in professional quantity surveying practice and with developer and later with James R Knowles (Hong Kong) Limited. She holds dual qualification in quantity surveying and in law. She is experienced in giving contractual advices, preparing claims and giving expert opinion. She also speaks in public seminars.

Gregory has been working in the construction industry for more than 20 years. He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, a contributor to various construction industry journals and an experienced construction contract consultant specializing in drafting of contracts, sub-contracts and claims documentation; providing contractual advice and pursuing and defending claims on behalf of clients. Gregory is also experienced at conducting and representing clients in construction and insurance arbitrations for both building and civil engineering projects at main contract and sub-contract levels; sitting as arbitrator and as dispute resolution advisor; and delivering public and in-house seminars.

Mukhtar initially trained as an engineer but quickly specialised in project planning and project control with various organisations. He is an experienced Primavera and MS Project software user having developed and implemented project planning and control systems for both Contractors and Owners / Employers on a variety of oil & gas and infrastructure projects both domestically in Malaysia and internationally. Having spent in excess of twenty years gaining experience in planning and project controls, Mukhtar more recently has specialized in delay analysis and dispute resolution work dealing with extension of time claims and delay impact generally. With a wealth of hands on practical experience Mukhtar is able to quickly understand the impact of particular delay events whether assisting with the preparation of extension of time claims on behalf of Contractors or defending such claims on behalf of Owners / Employers.

Mr McNally’s background experience is very varied, having worked on many different types of construction including rail and civil engineering works. He also have considerable overseas experience in both South East Asia and the Middle East. Mr McNally has good “people” and communications skills, together with the ability to readily adapt to new locations, conditions and circumstances.

Warren is a quantity surveyor with approximately 7 years experience in the construction industry gained with a major contractor in Hong Kong. He assists senior colleagues in preparing claims for extensions of time and costs. He also involves in preparation for arbitration and mediation and in the preparation of expert witness reports.

Ms Yong graduated from University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) with Masters of Science in Construction Contract Management in 2006, Bachelor Degree in Quantity Surveying in 2004 and Diploma in Quantity Surveying from Polytechnic Malaysia in 2001.
